Description

###NOTICE: For the safety of participants in the Open House Porto 2026, and due to the heat wave and extremely high temperatures, it will not be possible to open the Corredor do Rio Leça to the public.

The River Leça is 48 kilometres long, from its source to its mouth in Matosinhos. Considered, for decades, one of the most polluted rivers in Europe, it has, in recent years, been the focus of a major regeneration programme. In this context, in 2016, the four municipalities through which the river flows — Matosinhos, Maia, Valongo and Santo Tirso — joined forces and began working on the consolidation, strategy and definition of a plan they named the Leça Corridor, which, amongst other aspects, particularly environmental ones, seeks to promote the reconnection of communities with this important watercourse.
